Women's Lit Wisdom
Over the course of the semester students in Women's Literature at Moreau Catholic will use this site to post thoughts, feelings, and questions about the literature we read and the subjects we discuss in class. Our understanding of ourselves and the world we live in is enriched by our dialogue with literature and with each other.

Ms. Weltchek Speaks Again
Reading assignments for the rest of the book are as follows: 138 thru end of novel
Do four weblogs this week. Two must be posted by Wed. midnight, and two more by Saturday midnight. Many of you are not commenting on other students blogs, so do so.
What does Nel learn about life according to the end of this novel? Do you agree?
Check the Homework Website for Reading and Writing Assignments due for class. I updated it today.

Ms. Weltchek Speaks
Hey people! I cannot put this one in red because I'm posting on a computer that does not have updated software so that I can make changes to color or font. Make sure you respond to my previous question (April 10 or 11 post). Many of you are not posting on this blog site and are going to be very upset when you get a zero out of 25 for the week. Get reading and writing. This "Wisdom" site counts; do not show your "Ignorance" instead.

Classwork and Homework

How are your feelings changed by Sula's actions/betrayal (105-6)?

The Individual vs. The Community
How would different characters in Sula respond to this question? What matters most in life: What I think of myself? or what the members of my community (friends, family, colleagues at work, acquaintances, etc.) think of me?

Women's Lit Wisdom
Over the course of the final quarter students in Women's Literature at Moreau Catholic will use this site to post thoughts, feelings, and questions about the literature we read and the subjects we discuss in class.Blogging will be an essential aspect of our "discussion" of the novel Sula by Toni Morrison. You will be placed in groups and each group member is responsible for posting three blogs per week. One of them must be to originate a particular aspect of discussion with a probing interpretive question and commentary. The other two may be comments on the teacher's subject for the week and/or other blog questions or comments.
Weave textual support, from the novel through your comments and posts.
IMPORTANT: Do not forget to cite all quoted and paraphrased material properly (with page number).
Avoid unintentional plagiarism through accurate parenthetical documentation and inclusive works cited/works consulted.
Initially, I welcome your seeking out the ideas of literary critics; but no cliff's notes or the like, please.
